We offer caring, personal and quality attention to our sixteen elderly ladies in residence who are no longer able to live alone. Call (941) 474-5563, contact us or stop by anytime.
Inglenook is locally owned and has had the same management for 28 years. Our staff is not only professional — they're caring — and some have been with us for over 20 years. We are not corporately owned and because of that you can expect our personal touch.
1 We have nurses on staff with an RN available around the clock. Many facilities do not hire nurses because assisted living facilities are not required to have nursing staff. Because of this we are able to do diabetic management. Facilities that do not have nurses cannot give insulin.
2 As a Medicaid provider, we participate in the Long Term Care Program and coordinate an individual's needs with Hospice, when that is the resident's choice.
3 We coordinate physician prescribed nursing services, physical therapy, medical equipment and medications with appropriate third-party providers. All physician appointments are personally escorted by Inglenook staff.
4 Professional services are offered at all inclusive rates. There are no extra charges, deposits or admission fees.
What our families say about us.
"You have chosen an excellent staff. All of you are loving and caring people. I could not have gotten through these months without your help. You are doing a wonderful job."
"Thank each of you for all the love, care, and attention you gave my Mom during her 7 year stay at Inglenook. Living so far away, it was a great comfort to know she was in such good hands."
"Even before she needed extra care, I knew I couldn't trust her care to anyone but you. I was never disappointed with her care, and can't thank you enough for your tender care of my precious mother."
"Words will never be enough to express the feelings that came from knowing that my grandmother was so well cared for and living in such a loving and homey place as Inglenook. Your staff is wonderful and it was clear that they truly cared for the residents."
"You went above and beyond to help me. You and your staff took such good care of my Mom. I know she was happy to be there. I appreciate all that you did."
"Thank you so very much for your kindness, compassion, patience and warmth shown to my mother in law. She is so special to me and I know she is safe with you."
"I would like anyone who reads this part of my mother's obituary to know what beautiful care she was given by Jan Moynihan RN and her professional nursing staff at Inglenook Assisted Living. Special care with love and devotion is given to anyone who lives there. Inglenook Assisted Living for Women in Englewood should be given a special award for being the best assisted living in this area."
Throughout the large home are several comfortable sitting areas, a lovely dining room with fresh flowers and a charming fireplace for chilly mornings. The ladies also enjoy the screened front porch and private fenced courtyard.
With over two acres of gardens and trees, our ladies can watch the ever-present birds and butterflies visiting our tropical flowers.
Hurricane protection includes storm shutters, emergency food and water supplies and our own generator capable of keeping the entire residence running in case of power loss.
Our residence has 24-hour access control (each family has an individual access code of their choice), door alarms, a fire sprinkler system and an emergency in-room call system.

Meet our caring owner, head nurse and administrator.
After graduating from nursing school at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Jan worked at Columbia Presbyterian in New York City and Germantown Hospital in Philadelphia. Jan, her husband Jack and their 2 young sons, moved to Fort Myers Beach in 1976. She worked at Southwest Regional Medical Center before moving to the Englewood area and working at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Inglenook Assisted Living was started in 1989 because there had to be a better way to care for the elderly than what was available. Inglenook quickly established an excellent reputation which has continued throughout the Englewood community for the past 28 years.
In operation since 1989, Inglenook offers a unique residential setting, catering to elderly women who are unable to live alone. We are proud to receive the "Best of Englewood Reader's Choice Award" by the Englewood Sun Herald. We are a member of the Florida Assisted Living Association and have been a member of the Englewood Chamber of Commerce since 1991.
Inglenook is licensed by the State of Florida to provide assisted living services. We are not a nursing home and are not licensed to provide complex 24-hour nursing care.
